The recent opening of the 52-room Coral Beach Club in Oyster Bay, St. Maarten, is the latest addition to the island’s high-end hotel product, according to Roy Marlin, tourism commissioner, shown left.

Although the townhouses, villas and apartments in the complex are available for purchase, the property is managed as a five-star boutique hotel whose units are available for rent when not owner-occupied. A third of the units already have sold; the villa used for the opening reception was sold a day later for $2 million.

“Having another high-end product to offer agents and wholesalers is most welcome,” Marlin said. “Agents always point out the need for more inventory.”

Coral Beach is near the 311-room Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort & Spa, which opened in 2007 on the island’s east coast.
