Best Western grew worldwide in third quarter of 2002
U.S. hotel chain Best Western (BW) added 37 new resorts in North America and 38 other facilities around the globe in the third fiscal quarter of 2002 that came to an end last August 31. Minneapolis, Montreal, Syracuse, Brussels, Oslo, Hamburg, Suez and Valencia are just some of the cities where the hotel chain has opened up spanking-new establishments.
BW has begun operations in 34 hotels in the U.S. and three in Canada. The expansion effort in the United States includes such interesting facilities as Best Western IPG Florida Homes (55 residences of three to five rooms each) in Clermont (Florida); Best Western Brooklyn Center Inn (210 rooms) in Minneapolis; Best Western Raleigh North (139 rooms) in Raleigh (North Carolina) and Best Western Downtown Convention Center (100 rooms) in Nashville (Tennessee).
The new hotels in Canada are Best Western Sicamous Inn (65 rooms) in Sicamous (British Columbia); Best Western Maple Ridge (61 rooms) in Maple Ridge (British Columbia), and Best Western Chateauneuf Laval (70 rooms) in Montreal.
As to the rest of the world, 38 hotels in 16 countries have joined Best Western. Some of the main resorts are Best Western Sodehotel La Woluwe (126 rooms) in Brussels; Best Western Marina Wadi El Dome Resort Hotel (100 rooms) in Ain Sokhna-Suez (Egypt); Best Western Gatwick Worth (118 rooms) in Cramley (U.K.); Best Western Hotel Hamburg International (121 rooms) in Hamburg; Best Western Palace Hotel Helios (136 rooms) in Syracuse; Best Western Anker Hotel (137 rooms) in Oslo, and Best Western Consul del Mar (57 rooms) in Valencia.
“We are the undisputed leaders in hotels ranked in the midsize and high-midsize categories, with many (of them) recently opened in strategic spots, some of them even in countries with sluggish economies,” Best Western’s acting chairman Anupa Narayan pointed out. “Our development team has done a great job by chalking up both new hotels and others that were already operational in some major cities where the trademark was poorly represented,” Mr. Narayan concluded.
The new additions props up Best Western –at the end of the third quarter- as the world’s number one hotel chain with more than 4,000 independent establishments scattered in over 80 countries and territories.
