Bermuda Will Have a New Resort in April, the 9 Beaches

Though it is already warmly welcoming guests, the 9 Beaches Resort in Sandy Island will have its official grand opening next May. The resort, Bermuda´s newest, is catering to active young visitors and will operate from April to December every year.

The facility sprawls over 18 grotto-studded, heavily landscaped acres with 9 beaches featuring several exposures and venues. Cabanas stand on stilts: some even perch over the sapphire sea where plexi-glass floor panels reveal tropical fish fluttering underfoot.

All 84 have large windows and double doors that open onto ocean-view verandas. Flags outside each cabana allow guests to signal for room service, cocktails or simply privacy.

Although upscale in nature, it´s fashioned after more relaxed resorts in the Caribbean, explains Russ Urban, Managing Director of

9 Beaches occupies 18 acres, alongside clear, blue 80-degree waters – some of Bermuda´s most beautiful. Aquatic options abound: Sunfish, sailboard or sea kayak. Guests will also be able to ripple the waves in a raft, paddleboat, catamaran, banana boat, glass-bottomed cruiser or Jet Ski, among other sea recreational activities.
