Belize and Guatemala Discussed Tourism, Immigration Issues
The first meeting under the new Framework Agreement between Belize and Guatemala was held last month in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, sources close to the parties told Caribbean News Digital.
A skimpy official announcement from the Belize Press Office was issued exactly one week after the two-day meeting ended.
This meeting was held between Ambassador Assad Shoman and Guatemala´s Foreign Minister Jorge Briz Abularach, and its purpose, according to the official release, was to set up an agenda for a Joint Commission which is to follow.
Belize and Guatemala agreed at this meeting to hold their next meeting in Guatemala in January of the new year.
They also agreed that the two countries should treat as areas of priority tourism, commerce and development infrastructure.
