Barbados’s police bent on pushing down crime against tourists

The Barbados Police Department has just appointed a liaison officer to serve as linkage between its law enforcement agents and the local tourist industry in an effort to stave off crime in tourist-laden areas.

Police Commissioner Darwin Dottin said recently during the Annual Conference of the Barbados Royal Police Force that “rampant crime could do in the economy, especially in those sectors that depend heavily on foreign investment.”

The newly-appointed liaison officer will be in charge of outlining strategies aimed at putting a halt to crime in tourist areas, Commissioner Dottin added.
