Barbados’ Crane Resort Upgrades Property with New Pool Complex
Considered one of the oldest continuously operating resort hotels in the Caribbean, the Crane Resort & Residences has entered the 21st century in terms of upgrades and additions to its 40-acre facility on the southeast coast of Barbados in the parish of St. Philip.
The Crane Resort, which opened in 1887, has completed the first seven phases of a nine-phase, multi-million-dollar redevelopment program that includes a multi-tier, 1.5-acre pool complex, according to Paul Doyle, owner.
The pool complex with four new pools, three of which feature cascading waterfalls and infinity edges, is situated in front of three of the guest room buildings.
One of the infinity pools links the Carriage House pool bar, housed in a historic stable, with a hot tub. Additional elements of the pool complex include a wooden deck pergola and a fishpond.
The resort will open two new buildings in June housing 56 suites ranging in size from junior suites to three-bedroom suites, to add to its existing 18 oceanfront guest rooms in the Marine Villa, the original hotel building, which also has been redone.
When all is completed, the Crane Resort will offer a total of 202 rooms and suites, some of which will be owned as private residences at different times during the year. Many of the units will have private plunge pools.
Still to come is a spa set in a coconut grove on Crane Beach, lighted tennis courts and the Crane Village Town Center which will offer a choice of gourmet and casual restaurants.
