ATP, Trade Unions Agree on Tourism Development Strategies
The manager of Panama’s Tourism Authority (ATP is the Spanish acronym), Jesús Sierra Victoria, and deputy manager, Jennifer Champsaur, sat down with the chairmen of the tourism trade unions for a closer look at plans in the sector.
The meeting took place at the ATP’s seat, with the presence of the heads of tour operators, hotels, restaurants, airlines and travel agencies. It was also attended by Fernando De León, advisor with the institution, María Elena Guerra, Director of DMO, and Michelle Skildsen, acting Marketing Director.
When interviewed by the journalists that gave media coverage to the meeting, the ATP Manager explained that institution’s project agenda was analyzed, for both next year and the last months of 2014.
“It was a businesslike meeting in which we shared our ideas in an effort to improve and consolidate the travel sector, since we’re looking forward to holding congresses and conventions in Panama in order to strengthen our hotel industry”, Sierra Victoria pointed out and said that “we started working on our guideline a hundred days ago, and we’ll modify it if it’s necessary”.
Sierra Victoria announced that the ATP is going to launch the “Vive Panamá (Live Panama)” campaign, Nov 1 - 31, with tourism offers including gastronomy and shopping opportunities. The tourists will have customized assistance at the airports with information on Panama’s tourism sites, she commented.
“We’re also including tourism products from the inner regions of the country”, Sierra Victoria added.
The Manager of Panama’s Tourism Authority annotated that Black Friday shopping opportunities are going to be promoted in the country during the last week of November.
