Aruba Opposes Curacao's Request for Visa Exemption for Colombians
Aruba has objected to the waiver of the visa requirement for Colombians visiting Curacao, minister of justice, Nelson Navarro, said.
Previously, the Netherlands had objected to this petition from Curacao. Such a request by Curacao must first be approved by the Netherlands because foreign affairs are a Kingdom responsibility.
The Netherlands is concerned that, without a visa requirement, criminals would travel to Curacao. However, Curacao is looking at the economic benefits in tourism if no visa is needed.
Why Aruba opposes the move is not yet known and Curacao Premier Ivar Asjes is seeking clarification from his Aruban colleague Mike Eman.
