Aruba Airport Authority Wraps Up Two More Construction Projects at Queen Beatrix International

On May 25, management of Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) officially accepted two projects from contractor Van Kessel. Both projects are related to “Aviation Safety”.

The “Aerodrome Signs” project consisted of the installation of new guidance signs next to the taxi-way and ramp, to give the pilots information about the localization on the airport. These signs have been placed according to the rules of the ICAO (the International Civil Aviation Organization).

This project furthermore consisted of the replacement of some of the guidance signs that did not comply anymore with the rules of ICAO and the installation of new guidance signs at places where there were none but that indeed were necessary for the pilots.

The second project consisted of the building of a “Ground Service Equipment parking area” (GSE) of a total size of 3212,65 square meters. Such a large space was necessary for the parking of all the equipments and vehicles of ground handlers that are used on AAA’s air side.

The GSE parking area is very important for preventing equipment and/or vehicles to be parked on an area that is not paved, consequently damaging them or that might bring dirt on the ramp.

With these two new projects, the management of AAA fulfills its task of continuous efforts to ensure that our airport complies with all international rules and regulations and that it is continuously investing in the safety of air traffic at the Queen Beatrix International Airport.
