The number of revenue generating passengers (RGP) that passed through Queen Beatrix International Airport is up for first quarter 2007, 9.7 percent compared to the same quarter 2006. Aruba Airport Authority N.V. will be reporting revenue generating passengers rather than the number of overall movements from now on.

Aircraft movements have stayed on par with first quarter 2006 with a 0.9 percent increase over the first quarter of 2007. The largest increase in movements was observed in general aviation, a 20.8 percent increase in the first quarter of 2007.

In reviewing the RGP comparison first quarter 2007 with same period 2006, the Netherlands Antilles enjoyed the largest growth in RGP with 39.4 percent, this due to higher load factors and additional seats from the market.

The same reasoning applies for RGP from Europe which increased with 38.6 percent. The USA, still AAA’s and Aruba’s largest market by far showed a healthy increase during the first quarter 2007 of 7.4 percent over the same period 2006.

The negative effects that were earlier expected as a consequence of the U.S. authorities requiring travelers to present a passport upon re-entry in the United States failed to occur.
