Aruba’s AAA Adjusts Passengers Charges due to Increased Investments in Safety, Security

Recently the Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) informed the airlines of an adjustment to the Airport fees and Charges effective April 1 this year.

The adjustments entail an increase of the Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) from $23 to $23.50 per departing passenger, an increase of the General Usage Charge (GUC) from $8 to $8.25 per departing passenger, and the introduction of a Transfer Charge of $3 per transferring passengers which is for all passengers transferring to flights to non-U.S. destinations.

Passengers who departed from other airports and are traveling via Aruba to U.S. destinations are considered to be departing from Aruba and are subject to the full standard check-in procedures and therefore, all regular passenger charges are applicable to these passengers.

AAA has been able to leave the Airport Rates and Charges unchanged since March of the year 2003. However, in the last three years AAA has made considerable capital and operational investments to keep up with international requirements and to further increase the service level of the airport

Those investment comprise a 100 percent screening of carry-on luggage, the purchase of technically more advanced X-Ray machines and adjustments necessary to accommodate the physically challenged and senior passengers, just to mention a few.
