Argentina Hopes Double-Digit Growth of Own Travel Industry
Argentine Tourism Minister Enrique Meyer praised the cooperation agreement between LAFSA and LAN Chile, and said his country is gunning for a 10 percent increase as far as tourist arrival is concerned. Both announcements were made within the framework of the International Travel Marketplace that ended in Berlin this week.
Mr. Meyes arrived in the German capital to sit down with tour operators, travel agencies and airlines from the Old World.
“I think we´re going to wrap up this year with a 10 to 15 percent spike in terms of tourist arrivals,” the Argentine senior official pointed out.
In line with data handed in by Argentina´s Tourism Chamber, the leisure sector represents 7.7 percent of the gross domestic product and there are plans in the offing to bring it up to 10 percent.
