AR spreads its wings over Chile

A brand-new airline affiliated to Aerolineas Argentinas will get cracking in Chile in the third quarter of 2003, announced Julio Scaramella, a spokesman for the company’s executive committee.

The Chilean operation is part of a much larger project carried out by Spanish group Air Comet (AC), the same operator that took over the carrier in late 2001. The plan also envisions the beginning of operations in Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay on that same dateline.

In Mr. Scaramella’s own words, the Chilean project foresees the use of two B-737/200 aircraft to cover domestic flights, plus a B-747/200 plane to fly the overseas routes in the region, up to the U.S. and all the way to Europe.
