Antiguan Awarded Hospitality Scholarship
Jan Joseph, who is pursuing an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management, is the recipient of an educational grant from CIBC First Caribbean International Bank.
Joseph, a final year student at Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI), was awarded US $3,000 by the financial institution as it reaffirmed its commitment to upgrade the skills of Caribbean nationals involved in the tourism sector.
According to a release, this commitment was made by the bank’s Country Manager Michael Spencer during a ceremony hosted by the Caribbean Hotels & Tourism Association’s Education Foundation (CHTAEF) and the Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association (AHTA) at the Curtain Bluff Hotel.
“We reaffirm our commitment to the Caribbean communities in which we operate, and congratulate the CHTAEF for another successful effort in developing the persons committed to working in our vital tourism industry,” Spencer said.
“CIBC First Caribbean enjoys a longstanding and close relationship with the hospitality sector in Antigua and around the Caribbean. We are one of the sponsors of the CHTA’s annual scholarship program because we recognize that tourism is everybody’s business and we are all closely linked.”
