Amadeus Has Already Locked on 150 Airlines
Amadeus, the world´s leading technology company that deals with distribution of travel agencies and tourism, said this week its top-notch application service provider (ASP) to the airline industry is now being used by 150 airlines via Altea Sell, as TACA signed up for the super-efficient sales and reservation system that afford passengers with better and hitch-free service at less cost.
The seasoned GDS has more than 40 markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The Amadeus Learning City, housed in its headquarters at LKG Tower, Ayala Avenue, Makati, will use English and Spanish as mediums of communication. Amadeus serves the marketing, sales and distribution needs of the world´s travel and tourism industries.
Accessible from anywhere 24 hours a day and seven days a week, the Learning City accommodates travel agents of all levels and experience and offers blended learning solutions of methods and technologies to match their learning needs, said Villadolid.
Agents in busy and remote agencies will be guided quickly and efficiently about their agency´s daily operations by way of classroom-type learning without tying them down in the office for longer hours.
The GDS´ data processing center serves more than 66,000 travel agency locations and over 12,600 airline sales offices, or a total of more than 360,000 points of sale sites in more than 217 markets all over the world.
The Amadeus system facilitates travel agencies and airline offices´ booking with 469 carriers, or about 95 percent of the world´s scheduled airline seats. Ditto with 63,540 hotels, 48 rent-a-car firms, in over 29,000 locations and other provider groups such as ferry, rail, cruise, insurance and tour operators.
The Amadeus´ portfolio of new generation Customer Management Solutions cover Altea Plan (inventory management system) and Altea Fly (departure control system). Among the pioneers in using these solutions are British Airways, Qantas and Finnair.
