Allure of the Seas Makes Inaugural Call at Costa Maya
Costa Maya, one of Mexico’s largest cruise ports, celebrated the arrival of Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas, which made its inaugural call on Dec. 9, with 5,036 passengers during its maiden seven-day Western Caribbean sailing.
The arrival of Allure marks the fourth mega-ship to call at the port in 2010. On May 5, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas made its inaugural voyage to Costa Maya; on Aug. 9, Norwegian’s Epic made its first call; and on Dec. 1, Celebrity Cruises’ Eclipse made its first visit. Costa Maya is currently the only port in Mexico that can handle two Oasis- or Epic-class ships simultaneously. The Allure will call at Costa Maya every other week.
