AirTran Airways to Launch Nonstop Chicago-Cancun Service
AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, will start daily nonstop service between Chicago Midway International Airport and Cancun International Airport on June 3, subject to Mexican government approval.
This gives passengers in the Chicago area convenient access to Cancun -- which will be huge during the winter, when Mother Nature can be a highly effective marketing partner for warm weather destinations.
And it also takes advantage of the AirTran/Southwest network. The two airlines have an average of 246 daily departures at Chicago Midway and operate nonstop service between Chicago Midway and a total of 58 cities.
