Air Jamaica to Suspend Flights to Bonaire by End of Summer

Air Jamaica said it will suspend its services to the island of Bonaire, in the Netherlands Antilles, by Aug. 28. The carrier, which has been undergoing restructuring since it was re-acquired by the Jamaican government in December 2004, will phase out its Bonaire services in two stages.

Starting June 27, Air Jamaica will end Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday departures of flights 66 and 67 between Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Bonaire.

As of Aug. 28, the remaining Saturday flights will be grounded.

Air Jamaica officials were contacting passengers with Bonaire reservations to reaccommodate them.

The carrier, which began flying to Bonaire in 1999, will continue to serve the Netherlands Antilles with flights to neighboring island Curacao.
