Aeromexico Reports 3.3 Percent Increase in Passengers for 2012

Aeromexico transported 14.81 million passengers in 2012, a 3.3 percent year-on-year increase, driven by a 5.3 percent increase in international passenger traffic and a 2.6 percent increase in domestic passenger traffic. In December, Aeromexico transported 1.28 million passengers, which represents a 1.3 percent year-on-year decrease for that month. International passenger traffic increased 2.2 percent while domestic passenger traffic declined 2.8 percent in December.

The company’s demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs), increased 3.7 percent and capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASKs), increased 6 percent in 2012. Therefore, the load factor for the year was 76.6 percent. In December, Aeromexico’s RPKs decreased by 0.4 percent and ASKs grew 2.5 percent, year-on-year. The load factor for the month was 75.9 percent.

According to the latest report published by Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil, Mexico’s National Aviation Authority, in November Aeromexico controlled 38 percent of the domestic market and 15 percent of the international market. In the first 11 months of the year, Aeromexico’s overall market share was 26 percent, with 38 percent of the domestic market and 14 percent of the international market.
