Aeromexico, one of the Aztec nation´s top air carriers, has just announced the creation of a hundred franchises throughout the country to sell plane tickets, cruise fares, hotel reservations and package delivery services from now until 2006.

Oscar Mejias, general manager of the airline´s Office, Ticket and Franchise Network, said in a recent press conference that the first franchise will be opened on April 4.

The average investment to open franchises across the country could top $150,000 each.

Aeromexico´s franchises will be divided in three different categories at a cost of $50,000, $35,000 and $20,000, respectively. At the same time, the company will set up strategic alliances with travel-related companies, including the Posadas and Presidente International groups.

Mr. Mejias explained the decision to create franchises is a response to the increasing demand for plane ticket sale outlets, a formula that has paid off for other airlines, such as Mexicana de Aviacion.

Aeromexico, that has 48 ticket sale outlets right now, will open 45 franchises by the end of this year, while the remaining 55 posts will be ready to go in 2006.
