Adventure tourists need to be sure that they are insured adequately, moneysupermarket.com has warned. Noting that around half of British tourists have taken part in activities such as parasailing and bungee jumping purely on impulse and that cycling and horse riding are the two most popular last-minute adventure activities, it urged that people ensure they are prepared in case of accidents.

“Our research shows Brits don’t think twice before deciding take part in impulsive activities while abroad,” said director of insurance Richard Mason.

He noted that tourists need to pay full attention to the small print on Travel insurance policies, because cover “can vary significantly with exclusions and caveats commonplace”.

Adventure Holidays are increasingly popular as people seek travel experiences which have an extra edge, often in remote or off-the-beaten-track locations.
