3.2 Million Domestic Guests in Hungary
Guest nights spent in Hungarian public accommodation recorded a 1.3 percent decrease, while revenues stayed at the same level from January to September 2008, according to the latest data of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office.
In the first 9 months of the year, 2.8 million guests spent 8.1 million guest nights in the country, representing a 2 percent hike in the number of guests but a drop in the number of guest nights compared to the same period in 2007.
Declines were experienced from Germany, Austria and the US while British, Romanian and Polish guests showed significant increases along with the Czechs, the Norwegians and the Russians. In terms of hotels, 3- and 5-stars reported increases, whereas a decline was observed in other categories.
A total 3.2 million domestic guests contributed with 8 million nights, a 2 percent hike in numbers and 1 percent decrease in nights. During these months hotels operated with an average 50 percent occupancy, while thermal hotels were 63 percent full.
