2011: A Very Successful Year for Habaguanex
Eighteen years into its foundation, the Habaguanex Company keeps reaping success in the tourism sector of this Caribbean island. Created on January 6, 1994, today Habaguanex manages a wide service network, including both hotels and related facilities, which opens the doors of Old Havana to the world as the company becomes a witness and stakeholder in the recovery of a historic center that was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
For Habaguanex, 2011 was a very successful year marked by the opening of several restaurants, cafeterias and stores, such as the first Rice House, located in the Old Square, the new ceramics shop called Sargadelos, located in O’Reilly, or the new Pérgola cafeteria on Obispo Street.
The remodeling of different hotels and restaurants was also carried out, which led to their reinauguration by the end of the year of the Mesón de la Flota, Florida and Marqués de Prado Ameno hotels, as well as the Casa de la Parra and Torrelavega restaurants.
Characterized by an increasing cultural life in hotels and restaurants of the historic center, the year brought important national and international awards for the company as it grabbed several acknowledgements for its “Feel Old Havana” campaign. In the same breath, several of its hotels received important international recognitions in the tourism sector.
Among the company’s goals of this ongoing year, Habaguanex will have several challenges on the road ahead, including the opening of its twentieth hotel facility, Terral, which is expected to be opened by midyear.
With a special blend of tourism management and restoration of heritage in an important historic center of the island nation, this Cuban company offers a one-and-only experience to tourists by allowing them to walk, live, taste and feel Old Havana.
